Community Director/Hansen Leadership Program Advisor

Doane University invites applications for the position of Community Director/Hansen Leadership Program Advisor at its nationally recognized undergraduate campus in Crete, Nebraska. The Community Director reports to the Director of Residential Life and Education and supervises a staff of four paraprofessional student leaders called Community Advisors (CAs). The Community Director is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive student-focused and curriculum based educational strategies for a residential community of approximately 130 - 170 students. The CD oversees the implementation and enhancement of student learning outside of the classroom through a wide range of curriculum-based learning strategies including programmatic opportunities, leadership development, and academic initiatives.
The Community Director also works closely with academic affairs and other campus partners in facilitating the development of inclusive living-learning and engaging residential community that reflects the mission of Doane University. The CD participates in the Residential Education committee, diversity initiatives, Community Advisor selection, training, in-services, advises student groups (Residential Housing Association (RHA) & Themed Communities), and as liaison with other Student Affairs offices. This position also serves as a Conduct Educator and participates in the on-call duty rotation. Successful CDs have the following skill sets: knowledge of student development theory, residential curriculum, and student affairs best practices; ability to develop and implement an intentional curriculum-based educational strategy in a residential community; effectively supervise and support CAs and other students; the ability to utilize information to make sound decisions in times of crisis; strong administrative management and organization ability; enthusiasm, flexibility, and commitment to the Mission and Values of Residential Life and Education.
Hansen Leadership Program Advisor:
The Hansen Leadership Program Advisor is responsible for advising Doane Serves, a student service group, including overseeing its anchor service initiatives, serving on the Hansen Leadership Advisory Board and facilitating the Certificate Program and maintaining active involvement with the Directions first-year living-learning leadership community. The position will maintain an office with office hours in Hansen Hall.
A Bachelor's degree is required and candidates must have previous experience working in a residence hall
Basic software skills necessary (Microsoft Office products)
The Community Director must be committed to working within an innovative environment that is focused on the education of individuals and groups of college students within a residential setting through the development of cohesive living and learning communities
Demonstrate commitment to student growth and development
Ability to work collaboratively with campus partners
Demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion
Previous work with developing and implementing a residential curriculum program a plus
Strong administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student affairs
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Residential Curriculum models, motivational interviewing, ACUHO-I Standards, CAs Standards, NASPA Learning Reconsidered etc.
Experience supervising professional residence hall staff
Experience working in a residential college or university
Current membership and/or active involvement in related professional organizations
Licenses and Certifications Required for Position:
Valid driver's license
Competitive compensation and benefits to include a two-bedroom apartment plus utilities, free meals (when available) and employee tuition discounts. This is a 12 month, live-in position. Starting salary: $27,689

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
