Doane College, a nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences college in Crete, NE, seeks a charismatic leader as Athletic Director providing vision and administrative direction for all athletic staff, programs, facilities and activities. Doane College is a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), as a part of the NAIA supporting 21 sports. The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent knowledge of athletic administration with a keen understanding of the role Tiger athletics plays in supporting a successful student culture and institutional enrollment. A superior communicator, the Athletic Director must effectively supervise and mentor a coaching staff and administrative team to support competitive teams and excellent scholar-athletes. Understanding that financial resources are important, the Athletic Director is responsible for effectively administering a department budget while also working with the College's advancement office to secure additional funding through private solicitations and other effective booster club activities.
The Athletic Director works collaboratively with the College President and Cabinet members to not only align the athletic department with institution goals but also effectively communicate the needs and challenges within the athletic department. He /She works closely with the Office of Admission, the Office of Strategic Communications (OSC) and the Financial Aid Office respective to elevating the Doane brand and enrolling scholar-athletes critical to Doane's success in competition and in the classroom.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a reputation for strong integrity and comprehensive understanding of NAIA rules as well as related compliance requirements. This position requires the individual to be an excellent problem solver and an innovative thinker. The individual will demonstrate excellent organizational and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well with diverse populations are required. Fundraising experience is preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years combined administrative/management and coaching experience strongly preferred. Advanced degree required.
